Warsaw School of Economics (SGH)

Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) (Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie) is the oldest university of economics in Poland and one of the leading universities of economics in Europe. SGH was founded in 1906. It maintains close links with business community that facilitate conducting research projects. SGH is Poland’s top research university in economic sciences, with the grade of excellency awarded by Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The research activity concentrates in the institutes, chairs and departments comprised in five Collegia. Annually about 2000 alumni graduate from the SGH. SGH Warsaw School of Economics employs over 700 members of research staff specialising in different disciplines of social science, including industrial relations and social dialogue studies. SGH regularly belongs to beneficiaries of international research grants of the Framework Programmes, Erasmus+ Programme, EU tenders and other institutions. SGH co-operates with over 150 universities in Europe and worldwide and takes part in research activities in co-operation with foreign centres.

Jan Czarzasty

Jan Czarzasty, PhD (Economics), a University of Warsaw graduate, Associate Professor at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH).
Expert of the Institute of Public Affairs (ISP) in Warsaw, correspondent to the Working Conditions and Industrial Relations Observatory (EurWORK) – operated by Eurofound. Research Fellow at the Central European Labour Studies (CELSI) in Bratislava. Assistant-Chief Editor of the Warsaw Forum of Economic Sociology, a peer-reviewed journal published in English by SGH. Collaborator of the Friederich Ebert Stiftung (FES). On regular basis works as an expert for social partners both at the national and cross-national level, including the nation-wide trade unions, employers’ organisations, as well as European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), and national-level social partners from other EU member states. His PhD thesis based on the study on multinational retail chains was published under the tietle “Stosunki pracy w handlu wielkopowierzchniowym w Polsce” (Labour Relations in the Retail Chains in Poland”) in 2010. His interests include industrial relations, working conditions and employment relations.
